[ANAL-30]A fully automated methodology for endogenous tyrosine nitration validation and localization

We applied rPTMDetermine to (1) perform fully automated validation steps for modified peptides identified from an in silico database and (2) retrieve potential yet-to-be-identified modified peptides from raw data (that had been missed through conventional database searches). In part (1), 99 of 125 3-nitrotyrosyl-containing (nitrated) peptides obtained from a ProteinPilot search were validated and localized. In part (2), an additional 236 unique nitrated peptides were retrieved and localized, containing 113 previously unreported nitration sites; 25 endogenous nitrated peptides with novel sites. we harnessed the rPTMDetermine strategy to complement conventional database searching and enhance the confidence of assigning rarely occurring PTMs, while recovering many missed peptides

[ANAL-29]Single particle ICP-MS combined with internal standardization for accurate characterization of polydisperse nanoparticles in complex matrices

A brief introduction of single particle inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (sp-ICP-MS), the gaps between the real situation and researches and the objectives of this study is firstly presented. A simple diagram of the experimental procedures is then shown. The results of this study are presented in the following parts: Impact of matrix effect on mass determination by sp-ICP-MS, Stability of ionic Rh and CeO2 NPs after the addition of internal standard (IS) and Mass concentration determined by sp-ICP-MS after the addition of IS. Finally, a conclusion that matrix effect on sp-ICP-MS can be effectively corrected by internal standardization is drawn.

In this poster presentation, an anti-osteoporosis effect of Epimedii Folium is introduced. Epimedii Folium is a common traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) used to treat osteoporosis.. Multi-variance analysis is an important part in metabolomics. Jack-knife confidence interval is used for multi-variance analysis. Therefore, the needs of TCM and the use of jack-knife confidence interval will be mentioned in this presentation. Nevertheless, the experimental result will be well explained in this presentation.

[ANAL-26]Identification of nitro-aromatic compounds derived from lignin pyrolysis products using UPLC-Orbitrap MS in urban Guangzhou, China

Lignin can release various phenolic compounds through biomass burning. These lignin-derived phenols can be nitrated easily to form nitro-aromatic compounds (NACs) because of the strong electron-donating effect of the hydroxyl group and methoxy group on their benzene ring. With the outstanding ability of Orbitrap MS to resolve different ions, we classified a large group of complicated lignin-derived NACs, their probable structures contain more than one representative substituent group originated from lignin. Additionally, most of them correlate very well with the simple structured NACs throughout the whole sampling year, suggesting that those simple structured NACs may also derived from lignin burning.

[ANAL-23]Photothermal detection in microreactors using a luminescent temperature sensing layer

We used a thermal lens microscopy to detect photothermal effect of polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticles in a micro reactor. The change of temperature upon photothermal heating on PDA nanoparticles can be detected using a Ru(phen)3-PAN luminescent temperature sensing layer on bottom of micro reactor. PDA nanoparticles exhibited a photothermal effect with an increase of temperature over 10 K under a 532 nm laser excitation.

[ANAL-22]A highly efficient microfluidic particles removal device with staggered herringbone micromixers

As the serios Particulate matter(PM) has caused health threat to human health. We present a conceptually new method (different from traditional filter-based approach) that uses a microfluidic device by patterning the microchannel walls with staggered herringbone micromixers (SHMs). Our device shows > 90% and > 99% removal efficiencies for PM2.5 and PM2.5-10 while it could supply the same range of flow rate with a lower pressure drop compared with commercial particulate masks.
